New York, NY – January 26, 2021 – ARTERNAL, the leader in art database, customer relationships, and art sales workflow solutions, announced today it has hired Mary Leigh Cherry as their Director of Enterprise. Cherry was the former Los Angeles Director of Tanya Bonakdar Gallery and Co-founder of Cherry and Martin Gallery. Cherry’s appointment is in response to a rapidly increasing demand for ARTERNAL’s all-in-one, consolidated art sales system and the need to build a leadership team with a deep knowledge of and connection to the gallery and broader art world.

ARTERNAL is experiencing an unprecedented period of momentum and growth in the art market. Art professionals have recognized the importance of leveraging customer data to drive conversations, deepen relationships, and ultimately drive sales. Art professionals are increasingly using smart tracking to intelligently engage their clients and build meaningful relationships, especially while working remotely.

Cherry will be primarily driving and strengthening ARTERNAL relationships with mid-size to large galleries. She will also advise on the ongoing product direction as ARTERNAL continues to develop solutions that deepen relationships & sales through greater efficiency in communication and workflows for the business of art.

“Hiring an exceptional art professional like Mary Leigh Cherry is a great signal of things to come”, said ARTERNAL CEO and Co-Founder Sean Green. “With her expertise, we’re able to provide prodigious service to our clients  as we continue to grow. Our plans are to continue to lead the industry, aided by Cherry’s experience, connections and influence.”

In addition to working closely with artists, estates, collectors and museums, Cherry has held positions at the former Santa Monica Museum of Art (now ICA LA), the grantmakers Fellows of Contemporary Art, and in the Cultural Affairs Department for the City of Santa Monica overseeing the public art collection. Most recently, Mary Leigh has served as a founding member of the Hammer Museum’s K.A.M.P. (Kids’ Art Museum Project) committee, on the editorial committee of the new gallery association, Gallery Platform Los Angeles and on numerous host committees for cultural fundraisers.

“ARTERNAL is the future of doing business in the art world. Having been one of ARTERNAL’s first clients, I have had the unique vantage point in seeing how its suite of tools can drive direct growth for an art business. What CEO Sean Green and the ARTERNAL team have built has been an essential tool for me as a gallery owner and director. I look forward to this move into art tech to help provide solutions that will impact galleries, private art dealers, auction houses, art fairs, art advisors, collectors and artists alike,” said Mary Leigh Cherry.
